1/24/2025 AAFCO 2025 midyear Meeting: AAFCO Board Votes to Recommend KSO Proposal to MembersRead NowThe AAFCO 2025 Midyear Meeting was a great success for attendees and the feed industry at large! Amongst expert attendees, relationship building and critical information sharing; an exciting vote was cast by the AAFCO Board of Directors that will positively effect the animal feed industry; especially the hemp industry as it pursues hemp as an approved animal feed ingredient across multiple ingredients and species. The MOU between AAFCO and K-state to establish an ingredient approval pathway was approved by the AAFCO Board at the Midyear Meeting in Little Rock AR. AAFCO says, "We are excited to share that the AAFCO Board of Directors unanimously voted to recommend the KSO proposal to membership for consideration at the upcoming 2025 Midyear Meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas. This proposal will be one of the most significant topics that AAFCO membership will vote on. If passed, it will create an entirely new process to bring ingredients to the market in the United States and will do so more efficiently than the other federal processes that exist today." The goal of the MOU agreement is to speed up the approval process and give producers more feedstock options, with confidence that their feed is safe. APS Director Hunter Buffington says, “Putting feed approvals in the hands of the state regulators charged with enforcement, makes me feel optimistic about the future of hemp in animal feed.” View the official release from AAFCO HERE
